Disc speed is stated as 48x yet the disc won't srite at that speed. Why is this?
- While the disc is quoted at writable up-to that speed, the writing program will sometimes write at a slower speed to improve stability of the writing process.
- The discs themselves are tested to 52x but the faster the speed the greater the possibility that damage can be done to the disc in the writing process.
- Writers do not write at 48x all the way - they write at 48x MAX - on the outside of the disc, near the end of the writing cycle on a full disc.
- A 48x writer, up until about 400mb has an effective write speed of only 14x. The manufacturers are quite deceptive about all this - but try it - you'll see it's true.
- We also recommend using the newest version of Nero to produce the best results.
