How do I clean the lens of my optical drive?
A Pressit Drive Cleaning Kit, PLDCK, is a CD that is designed to clean the lens of your optical drive.
The CD has soft brushes on the writing surface at regular intervals that will gently brush the dust and dirt off your lens. It can be used in either a dry or wet state, by using the liquid provided with the kit. A little bit of this liquid on the brushes is generally enough to sort out most problems.
How to use:
- Apply a small amount of liquid to the brushes on the CD
- Insert the CD into your drive with the brushes facing downwards
- The program will autoload and then you will be able to play a media file
- Once the media file has been played to the end, the drive should now be cleared
This should help improve playback of DVD's, CD's, etc, and should help to reduce jumping and stutters.
