I am unable to write up to the full size of the disc. Are the discs faulty?

  • The discs are unlikely to be faulty. The simple fact is that space available can vary depending on what you are trying to store.
  • The size of the files can be important. If you have a few big files, you can fill up the disc quickly. If you have many small files, the index tables will take up a lot of space.
  • Make sure you have the correct disc for the situation, eg a dual layer disc holds nearly twice as much as a single layer
