DVD's are relatively resistant to scratches, fingerprints, dust and smudges. Surface contaminants will cause varying degree's of problems from frame skipping to complete unplayability.
In general the best way to treat a DVD is in roughly the same way as you would treat a CD.
- Handle only by the hub or by the edge.
- Keep away from hot surfaces and direct sunlight.
- Do not bend or scratch the disc.
- Never try to play a cracked disc as it could shatter and damage the drive.
If a disc does get scratched then you can use a Pressit CD/DVD Repair Kit Model: PLRK06015
· Pressit® CD Repair Kit repairs minor skips and scratches on all your CD, CD-r, DVD and games console disc · Fluid A - cleans and repairs your disc · Fluid B - seals the repair and protects against further damage · Two special cleaning cloths · Repairs more than 25 discs
Simply apply fluid A to the disc Once dry the wipe the residue off Then apply fluid B to the disc Again, once dry wipe any residue off with a clean cloth
This will remove any small scratches from the face of the disc and should help the disc be read by optical drives.
